I felt that the people I met this time were far more engaged in learning and speaking French, as well as learning about the culture of the French speaking world. I consider this very positive. Constructive efforts at no matter what level of ability, beginner or advanced, are always greatly appreciated and to be encouraged. The first meetup I went to I felt very frustrated trying to speak French with some attendees who stated that they had had no formal instruction but were looking to pick it up ! It made for a very difficult conversation.
