For the next cine club outing, we are going to see an English language film but with French connections! 'Chéri' received good reviews at the Berlin Film Festival. For a full synopsis, please see the link below: http://www.londonnet .co.uk/films/cheri.h tml The film starts at 6.30 but please be there by 6.15 in order to pick up your tickets and meet the group. If, for any reason you turn up late and have bought your ticket through LFM, it will be left on the desk for you to collect. Tickets are only £5 on Mondays when buying for a group of at least 10 so, if you are buying your ticket directly from the IF, please say you are with the French meet up in order to get your ticket at the reduced price. As usual, we will gather in the foyer after the film to go for a drink at a nearby pub. Next month we will see another film in the French language. PLEASE NOTE THAT THE FILM STARTS AT 6.30 SO WE WILL BE GOING INTO THE CINEMA AROUND 6.25. IF YOU HAVE PAID BY PAY PAL AND TURN UP AFTER THIS TIME, THE TICKET(S) WILL BE LEFT FOR YOU ON THE BOX OFFICE DESK. WE WILL MEET IN THE FOYER AFTER THE FILM TO GO FOR A DRINK SO YOU WILL HAVE THE CHANCE TO MEET THE GROUP THEN, IF NOT BEFORE.

Alexandra =================== Dear members, The good weather is back, so it’s time to have our tours in London again! We invite you this time to visit the area of Covent Garden. A French guide will explain to you the fascinating (as well as bizarre and illogical) story of this area that successively became the historic Roman city centre of London, a vegetable garden used by the monks from Westminster (hence its name "convent garden"), a fruit and vegetable market until 1973 and an artistic area today famous for its street performers. What's the link between all these activities? What other surprises is Covent Garden hiding from us? That's what you will find out during the visit ... We will have a drink in a pub in this area after the visit. If you want to join us, please pay £5 if you own a membership card or £7,50 if you don’t. The group is limited to 30 people. You can pay in cash at one of the LFM's next events or just before the tour. And please be on time! (6.45 pm) Don’t hesitate to contact me if you have any questions on this event. Alexandra

The next cine club outing will be to see 'The Class'. Winner of the Palme d'Or at Cannes last year, it's the real life story of life at a multi-ethnic school in Paris where the roles are played by real students and a real teacher. http://www.youtube.c om/watch?v=Wz5svwJqo VU Voici un extrait du critique en anglais: Below is an extract of the review in English: Take a classroom full of outspoken, multi-ethnic teens from a tough Parisian junior high school, none of them professional actors, add a real-life teacher trying to make a difference, and you’ve got Laurent Cantet’s fascinating portrait of the new France, triumphant winner of the 2008 Palme d’or. François Bégaudeau, from whose non-fiction account of teaching in just such a school the film is adapted, plays himself in this unsentimental, superior addition to the canon of classroom movies, set over the course of an academic year. Perhaps the finest and most important example of his work yet. We have reserved 10 tickets, available on a first come, first served basis. Once these tickets are sold, you can buy your own from the box office, quoting the French Meet Up in order to obtain the group discounted price.
